Lexia LETRS was authored by Dr. Louisa Moats, a prominent educator and researcher in the field of literacy and language acquisition. Her research and advocacy has significantly influenced reading instruction and literacy development education and shaped US literacy education policies.
The Lexia LETRS Science of Reading Grant celebrates Dr. Louisa Moats’ commitment to improve literacy by empowering educators to to transform student literacy learning through professional learning grounded in the science of reading.
About Lexia LETRS
Lexia LETRS is a professional learning course designed to provide elementary educators with deep knowledge to be literacy and language experts in the science of reading. This two-year course gives teachers the knowledge and skills to master the fundamentals of literacy instruction to impact student learning.

2. Post the video
Post the video to Instagram, Facebook, X, Threads, TikTok, or LinkedIn, use #LexiaLETRSGrant, and follow @LexiaLearning (@Lexia_Learning on TikTok) so we can validate your entry. Don’t forget to make sure your profile is set to public to be considered!
Eligibility: This grant is only available to educators who do not currently have access to existing LETRS contracts with their school, district, or state. To see if you are in a state that currently offers Lexia LETRS to educators (Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Delaware, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina, Wyoming), go here.
What to Expect After you Submit
1. Once your video submission is confirmed, a Lexia representative will send you a direct message with a link to an entry form you will use to submit your contact information.
2. If you are selected as a winner, you will be notified via email on or around November 30, 2023.
3. All winners will be asked to select one of two available sessions starting in either February or March 2024.
We want every teacher to be successful.
Research shows that 95% of students CAN learn to read when they have instruction based on the science of reading, but only 32% of students are reading proficiently. And while teachers are the most essential factor for student success, only a quarter of teaching institutions effectively prepare them for literacy instruction. Because teaching reading requires a deep understanding of the processes and science behind it, we want every teacher to have access to the information they need to be successful.
